Melbourne, FL– Beta Max, Inc., a leading provider of customized rack and pinion personnel and material lifting solutions, recently installed their Max Climber 2000PMB personnel hoist at the Progress Energy, Crystal River, FL plant which was built more than three decades ago. Progress Energy is embarking on one of the most ambitious power station maintenance outages in history. An army of welders, electricians and nuclear technicians will be on site to perform what amounts to be major organ transplants at this site. In order to move the added personnel, Progress Energy needed to rent a temporary elevator. Key to the selection of this elevator was the situation of being able to fit in a very narrow space located between a cooling containment building and a pump house. The Max Climber 2000PMB fit the requirement perfectly. The Max Climber 2000PMB has a smaller passenger cabin than is typically available in the temporary hoist industry. This particular model has a 2000 lb/7 passenger capacity and a totally enclosed cabin dimension of 81 inches (6.75 ft) by 45 inches (3.75 ft.). The overall base system footprint measures only 93 inches (7.75 ft.) by 95 inches (7.92 ft.). System features of the Max Climber 2000PMB include lightweight, 5 ft. mast sections weighing just 125 lbs. each, screw jacks for fast leveling of the base unit and mounting clamps for attaching to scaffolding or anchoring to a structure. Safety features include an emergency over speed brake, floor stops to bring the cabin to necessary landings and interlocked entry and exit doors to keep workers safe. The Max Climber 2000PMB being utilized at the Crystal River plant will be on rent for approximately 6 months. For equipment dealers providing elevator solutions to the construction industry, the Max Climber 2000PMB is an excellent addition to the larger elevators currently being utilized.
