Ingenuity at work, when a construction crew needed to move a bridge for lane expansion.
The Sellwood bridge had a single 1,100 foot span that needed to be moved over 60 feet on one side and 30 feet on the other. This video and the PopSci.com article
shows how they did it.
The key ingredient – dishwasher soap. Plenty of liquid soap was used to create a slippery service for the bridge to slide into place. Pretty neat trick indeed.
